Key takeaways

  • Microsoft and Alphabet both report quarterly results after the US market close on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Amazon follows on Thursday, October 29.
  • Apple is not part of this week's group. It has set its fiscal fourth-quarter report for Monday, November 2. Meta already reported on October 21.
  • Capital spending is the number most investors will look for first. Alphabet, Amazon and Meta have all raised their 2026 spending plans this year, and Reuters puts total hyperscaler capex at around $800 billion for 2026.
  • The reports land after the Nasdaq's 2.6% fall on October 22 and Alphabet's slide into bear-market territory, both tied by Reuters and Xinhua to worries about AI spending.
  • The Federal Reserve announces its rate decision on October 28, the same afternoon as the Microsoft and Alphabet releases.

Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon earnings dates at a glance

Microsoft earnings date: Wednesday, October 28

Microsoft said on October 7 that it will publish fiscal year 2027 first-quarter results after the market closes on October 28. A live webcast of the earnings call starts at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time, and the results are posted on Microsoft's investor-relations website. Microsoft's fiscal year starts in July, so "fiscal Q1 2027" covers the same July–September months as the other companies' third quarter.

In its last report, for the quarter to June 30, 2026, Microsoft posted revenue of $90.0 billion, up 18%. Microsoft Cloud revenue was $59.3 billion, up 27%, and revenue from Azure and other cloud services grew 43%, according to the company's release. Constellation Research reported that capital expenditures for that quarter were $41 billion, up 70% from a year earlier.

Alphabet earnings date: Wednesday, October 28

Reuters reported on October 23 that Alphabet and Microsoft both report on Wednesday. Alphabet usually posts its release and webcast link on abc.xyz/investor shortly before the call. Its second-quarter call, on July 22, began at 1:30 p.m. Pacific Time. When Bullquill checked on October 24, the third-quarter call time had not yet appeared on Alphabet's investor-relations pages, so the exact time is not confirmed here.

The second-quarter numbers explain why Alphabet's report draws so much attention. According to Alphabet's earnings release filed with the SEC, revenue rose 24% to $119.8 billion. Google Cloud revenue rose 82% to $24.8 billion, and Google Cloud operating income was $8.8 billion. Purchases of property and equipment, Alphabet's capital spending, doubled to $44.9 billion from $22.4 billion a year earlier. On the call, chief financial officer Anat Ashkenazi raised the 2026 capex range to $195–205 billion from $180–190 billion, W.Media reported.

Alphabet goes into the report after a steep fall. GOOGL closed at $320.21 on October 23, 20.5% below its May 13 closing high, as covered in our report on Alphabet's slide into a bear market.

Amazon earnings date: Thursday, October 29

Amazon announced on October 15 that it will hold its third-quarter conference call on October 29 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time (5:00 p.m. Eastern). The webcast streams at amazon.com/ir, and Amazon says the audio and slides stay available for at least three months.

For the second quarter, Amazon reported net sales of $200.6 billion, up 20%, and operating income of $27.5 billion. AWS sales rose 37% to $42.2 billion. Purchases of property and equipment rose by $66.1 billion over the trailing twelve months, which Amazon tied mainly to AI investment. Trailing-twelve-month free cash flow was an outflow of $7.6 billion. Fortune reported that Amazon raised its 2026 capex forecast to $220 billion from $200 billion and that AWS had a $496 billion backlog.

Amazon also gave guidance for the quarter it is about to report: net sales of $197.0 billion to $202.0 billion and operating income of $22.5 billion to $26.5 billion. These are Amazon's own ranges, not Bullquill estimates.

Apple earnings date: Monday, November 2

Apple is not reporting this week. MacRumors reported on October 6 that Apple's updated investor-relations page lists fiscal fourth-quarter results for Monday, November 2. Results are due at 1:30 p.m. Pacific and the call at 2:00 p.m. Pacific. It will be the first earnings call led by chief executive John Ternus, with chief financial officer Kevan Parekh. Some calendar sites still show October 29 as an estimate. That date does not match Apple's own listing.

In July, Parekh said Apple expected total revenue for the September quarter to grow 9% to 11% from a year earlier, MacRumors reported.

Last quarter's capex and cloud numbers compared

The table sets out the most recent reported figures for each company, so readers can compare them with the new numbers as they come out. Microsoft's figures are for the quarter to June 30, 2026, and Meta's are for the quarter to September 30, 2026.

Why these reports matter after the AI-spending selloff

The week's selling started with Meta. The company reported third-quarter revenue up 26% to $64.6 billion on October 21. It also showed negative free cash flow of $2.1 billion for the quarter, against a positive $10.6 billion a year earlier, and narrowed its 2026 capex outlook to $135–145 billion. Meta's shares fell about 7% the next day.

On October 22 the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.6% to 26,008.86, its steepest daily drop since June, according to Reuters and Xinhua (data as of the 20:00 UTC close). Chip stocks led the decline, and Nvidia slipped into a correction. Our reports on the Nasdaq's 2.6% drop and Nvidia's correction cover that session in detail.

Reuters columnist Lewis Krauskopf wrote that hyperscaler capital spending is expected to reach around $800 billion this year, and that investors are questioning how long it can last as financing costs rise. "The market's just not giving the benefit of the doubt to companies that are spending a ton of money," Nick Giorgi of Alpine Macro told Reuters. Kevin Mahn of Hennion & Walsh told Reuters that earnings are "critical to the overall confidence level of the AI trade."

The timing adds a second event. The Federal Reserve's two-day meeting ends on October 28, so the rate decision arrives earlier the same afternoon as the Microsoft and Alphabet releases. Reuters reported that futures imply about an 80% chance of a rate hike at the Fed's December meeting. Our Fed October meeting explainer sets out that debate.

What to look for in each report

These are the items the companies themselves have flagged in recent quarters. They are not predictions of the results.

  • Capex and spending plans: whether Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon change their full-year ranges, and what they say about 2027. Alphabet said in July that it expects capex to rise again in 2027.
  • Cloud growth: Azure growth, Google Cloud revenue and margin, and AWS growth. These show whether customer demand is keeping pace with spending.
  • Capacity: Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy said in July that even $220 billion of spending would not be enough to meet all demand in 2026, Fortune reported. Any update on capacity limits will be closely read.
  • Cash flow: after Meta's negative quarterly free cash flow, investors are watching cash generation as well as profit.

What it means

For the second week in a row, the AI trade turns on what a handful of companies say about spending. Meta's report showed that strong revenue growth did not protect its shares once cash flow turned negative. Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon are the three biggest sellers of AI computing capacity. Their cloud growth is the clearest public measure of whether that spending is turning into revenue. Bullquill will update this tracker after each release with the reported capex and cloud figures.
