This central bank meeting calendar starts with three decisions in about 48 hours: the Federal Reserve on October 28, the European Central Bank on October 29 and the Bank of Japan on October 30, 2026. It lists every remaining 2026 date and the published 2027 schedules.

Data as of: official schedules of each central bank, checked October 24, 2026, 12:00 UTC. All 2027 FOMC dates are tentative until confirmed at the meeting before them.

Key takeaways

  • Three of the world's largest central banks decide within about 48 hours next week: the Fed (October 28), the ECB (October 29) and the Bank of Japan (October 30, with its quarterly Outlook Report). The Bank of Canada also announces on October 28.
  • The Fed has two meetings left in 2026: October 27–28 and December 8–9. Only December comes with a new Summary of Economic Projections.
  • December is crowded: the RBA (December 8), the Fed and the Bank of Canada (December 9), Bank Indonesia (December 16), the ECB and the Bank of England (December 17) and the Bank of Japan (December 18) all decide between December 8 and 18.
  • The Fed, ECB, Bank of Japan, Bank of England, Reserve Bank of Australia and Bank of Canada have all published full 2027 schedules. Bank Indonesia has not yet published its 2027 dates.
  • Announcement times below are only those published by the central banks themselves. Where a bank does not publish a fixed time on its schedule, the table says so.

This week: central bank meetings October 27–30, 2026

Time conversions matter this week because clocks change unevenly. Europe and the UK leave summer time on Sunday, October 25, while the US and Canada stay on daylight time until November 1, as explained in our guide to when the clocks go back in 2026. That briefly narrows the gap between New York and Frankfurt to five hours.

Federal Reserve: FOMC meeting schedule 2026 and 2027

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) sets the target range for the federal funds rate, the overnight rate at which US banks lend reserves to each other. It holds eight scheduled meetings a year, each over two days. The Fed's September 16 statement was released at 2:00 p.m. EDT on the second day of the meeting, and the Chair then holds a press conference. Meetings marked with an asterisk on the Fed's calendar come with a Summary of Economic Projections (SEP), which includes the "dot plot" of officials' rate projections.

The Fed says each meeting date "is tentative until confirmed at the meeting immediately preceding it." In UTC, a 2:00 p.m. ET release is 18:00 UTC while the US is on daylight time and 19:00 UTC in winter, so the December 9 statement would fall at 19:00 UTC if the usual release time holds. The Fed has also pencilled in January 25–26, 2028.

ECB meeting dates 2026 and 2027

The ECB's Governing Council sets three key interest rates for the euro area. The deposit facility rate, which banks earn on overnight deposits at the central bank, is the one that steers money-market rates. Monetary policy meetings run over two days in Frankfurt. The ECB states that its monetary policy decisions are published at 14:15 CET on the second day, and its September press release set the press conference for 14:45 CET. During European summer time the same clock times are CEST, so the decision comes at 12:15 UTC.

The calendar also lists non-monetary policy meetings, such as November 25, 2026, at which the Council does not set interest rates. The December 2026 meeting is the next one with new staff macroeconomic projections, as we noted in our ECB preview.

BoJ meeting schedule 2026 and 2027

The Bank of Japan's Policy Board holds eight Monetary Policy Meetings (MPMs) a year. Its main tool is the guideline for money market operations, which sets the level it aims for in the uncollateralized overnight call rate. Four meetings a year also produce the Outlook for Economic Activity and Prices (the Outlook Report). The BoJ does not publish a fixed time for its decisions; the statement is released when the meeting ends. The BoJ says "The Bank's View" section of the Outlook Report is released right after the meeting, and the full text follows at 2:00 p.m. JST on the next business day.

Because the October 30 meeting falls on a Friday, the full Outlook Report text is due at 2:00 p.m. JST (05:00 UTC) on Monday, November 2, under the BoJ's stated release rule.

Bank of England MPC dates 2026 and 2027

The Bank of England's nine-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) sets Bank Rate. It announces eight decisions a year, always on a Thursday, together with the minutes of the meeting. Four of them come with the quarterly Monetary Policy Report. The BoE confirmed its 2027 dates on September 17, 2026. Its schedule page does not state an announcement time, so check the Bank's website on the day.

The split at the last meeting shows why the November 5 decision is closely watched: three of nine members, Megan Greene, Catherine Mann and Huw Pill, voted in September to raise Bank Rate to 4%, according to the BoE's minutes.

Other central banks: RBA, Bank of Canada, PBoC and Bank Indonesia

Reserve Bank of Australia

The RBA's Monetary Policy Board sets the cash rate target over two-day meetings. The RBA calendar lists the decision statement at 2:30 p.m. AEDT and a media conference at 3:30 p.m. AEDT on the second day of the November and December meetings. With Sydney on daylight time (UTC+11), that is 03:30 UTC and 04:30 UTC. The November 3 meeting also brings the quarterly Statement on Monetary Policy.

Bank of Canada

The Bank of Canada announces its policy interest rate eight times a year. Its events page lists the October 28 announcement at 09:45 ET (13:45 UTC) and the press conference for the Monetary Policy Report at about 10:30 ET. Four announcements a year come with the Monetary Policy Report.

People's Bank of China: loan prime rate (LPR) dates

China's loan prime rate is not decided at a scheduled policy meeting. Panel banks submit quotes to the National Interbank Funding Center on the 20th of each month, and the one-year and over-five-year LPRs are published by the center on the morning of that day, Beijing time. When the 20th is a holiday the release moves to the next working day. The five-year rate is the main reference for mortgages. Other PBoC measures, such as changes to banks' reserve requirements, are not tied to a published calendar.

December 2026Mon, December 21 (the 20th is a Sunday)

Bank Indonesia

Bank Indonesia's Board of Governors meets monthly over two days and announces the BI-Rate on the second day. Its official 2026 schedule, published on December 22, 2025, lists two remaining meetings. The 2027 schedule had not been published as of October 24, 2026. For the latest decision, see our report on Bank Indonesia holding the BI-Rate at 5.75%.

Why markets watch central bank meetings

A policy rate is the price of overnight money in an economy. When a central bank changes it, or signals that it might, the change flows into Treasury and government bond yields, mortgage and loan rates, savings rates and the exchange rate. That is why a single sentence in a Fed statement can move stocks, gold and the dollar within minutes. Our explainer on the 10-year Treasury yield shows how expectations about the Fed reach long-term borrowing costs.

Three parts of each meeting tend to matter most:

  • The decision itself. Markets usually price the most likely outcome in advance, so a surprise relative to expectations moves prices more than the decision does.
  • The forecasts. Meetings with projections (Fed SEP, ECB staff projections, BoJ Outlook Report, BoE Monetary Policy Report, RBA Statement on Monetary Policy, Bank of Canada MPR) show where officials think inflation, growth and rates are heading.
  • The vote and the language. Dissents, such as the three BoE members who wanted a hike in September, and changes in wording about future moves are read as signals for the next meeting.

In 2026 the backdrop is unusual. The Fed, the ECB and the RBA have all raised rates this year, and the ECB said in September that the Middle East conflict was keeping inflation pressures high. Our explainer on how oil price shocks hit inflation and rates covers why that matters. Daily market reactions around each decision are tracked on the Bullquill Markets page, and exchange trading hours across Asia are listed in our Asian stock market hours and holidays guide.

What it means

For anyone following rates, the next 60 days come in two clusters: October 28–30 (Fed, Bank of Canada, ECB, BoJ) and then November 3–5 (RBA and BoE), followed by the December 8–18 run, when seven of the banks in this guide decide. The December meetings of the Fed, ECB and BoE also close out the year, and the Fed and ECB will publish fresh projections then.

Two practical points help avoid mistakes. First, check the time zone: daylight-saving changes in Europe (October 25) and North America (November 1) shift the UTC times by an hour. Second, treat future dates as provisional: the Fed confirms each date only at the meeting before it, and any central bank can hold an unscheduled meeting in an emergency. Bullquill updates this page when a central bank publishes or changes its calendar.
