US Halloween candy sales fall 6.7% as prices and gas costs climb
The slump started early, with candy sales down 11.7% in mid-September. Gasoline averaged $4.30 a gallon, about 40% above a year earlier, but the National Confectioners Association says the peak buying week has only just begun.
